[Mythology] The Heroes of Olympus - The Lost Hero

Percy Jackson's new series
Book 1: The Lost Hero

+++++ [Caution!] Parts of the story are included!!!!!!! +++++

At the beginning of my reading, I didn't find the book entertaining, for somehow I hated the prophecy that seemed to ruin all the fun, and what's more, it was Hera (or you can call her Juno) that the heroes were supposed to rescue, and this made me feel even more irritated because I had no love for the goddess! (LOL)  However, the outcome kind of surprised me and shattered my original impressions on the previous five books (the Percy Jackson series).

This new series is closely connected with the previous one

This book seems to be "another" story series when I first saw the cover in the bookstore, and as a result, I am amazed at how the author managed to fit the two pieces together perfectly without wrecking the whole story, especially about the final part in The Last Olympian.  This really makes me begin to wonder what happened to "the other side" and what the quests they had were like during the second Titan war, and hopefully the author might write something about it in the near future.

Moreover, for those who are very familiar with Mythology, they will find the book following the patterns of Mythology, and it's not just mythology, but modern mythology!  For example, have you ever imagined what a "modern Medea" would do as her career in 21st century?  Or what a modern king Midas's house would be like in he lives in present days?  All of these are so interesting that you can do nothing but marvel at the author's wits!

Greek Gods and Roman Gos and Their Children

As we know, the Greeks won the Trojan War bloodily, and later the future generations of the survivors (Aeneas) of Troy became the founders of Rome, which conquered the Greeks.  The Romans worshiped the same gods as the Greeks but under different names and slightly different personality, and this resulted in two different groups of demigods who would try to tear each other apart should they encounter each other.

However, the Great prophecy said that to win the coming war, the two foes must combine their force, which is kind of impossible... Thus, here comes Hera's dangerous plan -- the exchange of leaders. (It's not difficult to guess who they are, though.)

To know more about the other group of demigods and their background, we'll have to wait till fall... (tears)
